Making the Most of Winter in Calgary, AB

For a lot of the world, winter is a season to be feared, possibly even despised, mostly because of the ice and snow, but that’s not how we see things here at Shaw GMC Chevrolet Buick. The vehicles that we sell here, like the 2017 GMC Canyon, are very well-equipped for the worst that Mother Nature has to offer, and besides, there are so many awesome things to do in and around Calgary, AB during the winter. It would be a shame to miss out on these activities just because it’s a little cold outside.

For starters, a lot of our customers like to visit WinSport, a skiing and snowboarding facility just off the TransCanada Highway. The hours actually are pretty friendly on weekdays as well as weekends, and they offer a number of courses for people of varying skill levels, plus private lessons for those that need the extra help.

It’s also an ideal time to play some ice hockey, and there are a number of parks all over the city that offer some great pickup games. That, or just hit up a Calgary Flames or Calgary Hitmen game and watch the professionals do it in person!

Beyond that, there are a number of outdoor parks and hiking areas that give visitors some gorgeous winter views. Just hop into your 2017 Chevrolet Equinox or new Chevy Cruze and head to great spots like the Bowness and Fish Creek Park or Bow Valley Provincial Park. Each of them is worth the trip and an hour or two hiking through the snow.

Canadians embrace the winter time, which is why there are so many great things to do right here in Calgary, AB. Get out there and experience them all this January!
