Quite frankly, Calgary is an amazing place to live, as it mixes all the best things of living in a major city and living among nature, particularly for those that are willing to take their GMC vehicles for little day trips to find all those great Canadian jewels of travel.

Here at Shaw GMC Chevrolet Buick, we encourage our customers in and around Calgary and Canmore, AB to make the most of their spacious GMC, Chevy, and Buick automobiles by hitting some of the best nearby spots for day trips. Here’s a quick look at some of our favorites:

Columbia Icefield and the Glacier Skywalk – Just over three hours away from Calgary is the Columbia Icefield, which includes the Athabasca Glacier and lovely Lake Louise. The scenery out there is stunning, and with Banff nearby there are plenty of opportunities for dinner after a long and lovely day.

Banff National Park and Lake Louise – Also near Banff is this fantastic national park, which offers views gorgeous enough to earn its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Yoho National Park, which features the Valley of the Ten Peaks, also is nearby for those who want to make the most of the gorgeous views while they’re in the area.

Canadian Badlands – For those that love dinosaurs, Drumheller is only about 90 minutes away. In and around this “Dinosaur Capital of the World” there are dinosaur museums, lovely badlands tours, gorgeous rock formations and so much more.

Canada is a beautiful place and certainly worth exploring, so get behind the wheel of that great car of yours and explore what our region has to offer. There’s no better time to explore this beautiful country than right now!
