We're on the Blackfoot
The Cobalt name may be retired and long gone in the United States, but the nameplate is alive and well in Brazil. Here is the all-new 2016 Chevrolet Cobalt unveiled for Brazilian consumers.
Chevrolet says the 2016 Cobalt has been completely redesigned with a global look to help it fall in line with recent product introductions, specifically the Chevrolet Malibu, and we can certainly see that in the scrunched proportions.
Also new are the premium interior materials, which can now be had in upscale tones such as Jet Black and Brownstone, with plenty of piano black inserts for contrast. Soft touch points are now found throughout the cabin, and controls were improved for heightened ergonomics.
Technology also stakes its claim for the 2016 Cobalt, too, as Brazil receives OnStar coupled in the latest vehicle. Accompanying OnStar are Chevrolet MyLink2, which is now compatible with Apple CarPlay. Additionally, controls can now be found on the multifunction steering wheel.
Powering the 2016 Cobalt are either a 1.4-liter four-cylinder or 1.8-liter four-cylinder, and either may be paired to a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The car may be specced from a base LT, an in-between LTZ or a range-topping Elite trim, which brings rain-sensing wipers, chrome accents are more with it.
The 2016 Chevrolet Cruze is seen as the first product following General Motors’ major investment in the market following the announcement of OnStar heading to Brazil.
